The parents of Trayvon Martin and family attorney Ben Crump joined Reverend Al Sharpton for a press conference at the National Action Network Convention (NAN) today to answer questions about the ongoing investigation into the killing of Trayvon Martin.
STORY: George Zimmerman To Be Charged Today!
At the press conference in downtown Washington, Sharpton said:
"Trayvon's name must not be tarnished. This is not anti-anybody campaign…this is not a hate campaign…it’s a love campaign and we are after justice."
Sharpton continued saying:
"We are not in the business of revenge. We are in the business of justice. We must make the justice system work. Otherwise the movement is for nothing. To go outside the justice system is to achieve nothing."
The NAN press conference comes a day after Zimmerman's lawyers dropped their representation of Zimmerman because they had not been able to communicate with him for three days. They also indicated Zimmerman was no longer in Florida.
Trayvon family attorney Ben Crump took the stage and said:
"We want to make sure things stay safe and peaceful and follow the example of Trayvon’s parents to remain peaceful and have faith in our system. They are a good example of keeping their composure."
Justice is coming for Trayvon. It was just announced that special Prosecutor Angela Corey of Jacksonville is expected to charge Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon as soon as today.
