Imagine being held up by gunpoint, ordered to hand over your wallet and car, and narrowly escaping injury – only to be told that the perpetrators would be set free.

DETAILS: WTF!? Man Shoots Himself To Test Bulletproof Vest

That’s exactly what happened to Amy Garrett, a Portland, Ore., woman, who was confronted in a church parking lot by a 7-year-old and an 11-year-old with a .22 caliber handgun, cocked and loaded. After police caught both boys just off church property, they were returned to their families. Because of their ages, they are too young for jail or even a juvenile detention center.

Even more shockingly, the attempted robbery was reminiscent of a very adult-like crime, with the boys telling the victim that they would “blow [her] brains out.”

According to The Daily Mail, Garrett detailed her harrowing experience:

Miss Garrett was parked outside the Freedom Foursquare Church waiting for her parents when the two boys, later recognized as occasionally attending the church while living nearby, approached her window.

The youngest of the two allegedly nudged to the other, ‘show her your piece,’ prompting the oldest to pull up his shirt where the weapon was revealed.

‘He was showing me his gun and I asked him if it was real. He said: “You don’t ever ask somebody if it’s real. That’s how you get yourself shot,”‘ she said.

When Miss Garrett refused to hand over her truck to the boys she says they demanded her wallet and phone, promising she wasn’t leaving unless they got something.

Putting her car in drive Miss Garrett says she sped off, leaving the boys behind her but not without catching sight of the 11-year-old pulling out the gun out from his pocket.

After police returned the children to their families, it’s reported that the 11-year-old attempted to escape again, only to get caught and returned. Reporters spoke with Garrett with the boy present, but her shot nerves made her end the interview. Reporters were not allowed to speak to the boy because of his age.

“That’s how you get shot?” What have these kids been watching?! This is either a case of unsupervised television or internet, environment, or worse, bad parenting. Whatever it is, something needs to be done to get these kids some help because they are definitely on the wrong path.
