Live by the gang, die by the gang. But not in this case.

An Atlanta teen was shot 15 times after he expressed his decision to leave the gang he belonged to.

Members of the Young Mob gang go by the motto, “You’re in until you die.” They allegedly shot Orentheal Childs, 19, and left him for dead on Feb. 15.

But Childs had something else in mind.

He started crawling and moaning and was helped to the hospital. The people who came to his aid are now in protective custody.

He has undergone surgery and is alert and talking, My Fox Atlanta reported.

U.S. Marshal Eric Heinz said. “(He) told the other members of the gang, ‘Hey, look, I want to go straight, be law-abiding,’ and they weren’t happy with it.”

His family, relieved that he survived, is also hoping that the gang mentality will stop.

“I think he’s strong and he’s a survivor,” said the relative, who asked not to be identified.

“My message is change before it’s too late. Because the same way they did him, somebody could do them,” the relative said.

Agents with the U.S. Marshals Counter Gang Unit and Atlanta Police arrested two people in the shooting, including a 16-year-old and 19-year-old Farrakmad Muhammad Price, who they say was found Tuesday hiding in Tennessee.

That’s a hell of a survival! Maybe now he’ll hop on a record with 50 Cent.

But in all seriousness, thoughts and prayers to Childs and his family.
