“So he became G.I. Joe, killing his family, not the enemy.

A human gun — Made and manufactured in the United States of America.”

~The Last Poets, “Black Rage”

On April 17, 2013 the Republican Majority in the House voted down Obama’s push for gun control, sparking America’s first Black President to refer to that date as “a pretty shameful day for Washington.” To be sure, Congress passed the Second Amendment ‘Right to Bear Arms’ back in 1789 – when Blacks were enslaved. That’s 86-years before America abolished slavery. Now – well over a century after slaves were ‘freed’ – does the Republican Party have a secret top priority to make the Black Man an extinct race?

The answer may lie in the history of the past five-decades. In the 60’s, during the Nixon Administration, the Black family unit was destroyed. Know why? Our brothers were forced to Vietnam to fight a fictitious war. The mass majority who made it home, returned hooked on heroin. In the 70’s, even more brothers fell victim to becoming hooked on ‘H’ – after the drug was shipped in abundance, from Vietnam. Don’t believe me? Ask Frank Lucas. In the 80’s, during the Reagan Administration, crack flooded Black communities – Just ask “Freeway” Rick Ross and Rayful Edmond. The crack epidemic continued throughout the 90’s – fuelled by black youth programmed to believe it’s cool to be ‘Nino Brown’. The 2000’s paved way for a large group of Black teens, born as crack babies, faced to survive in their hoods – spreading an ‘I don’t give a fuck attitude’ over their impoverished circumstances. By 2007, there was a recorded 40-percent increase of American Black teen males killed in gun crimes.

“There has been a conscious decision to let some communities fall apart, as long as it’s contained and it doesn’t seep over. But, guess what America? It’s seeping over — drugs did, violence is, and now poverty is. Because what used to be the middle class is now poor.”

~Reverend Michael Pfleger

So, why are our Black youth the ones who are gunning down their own? Evidence proves they are being contained — within the very projects in which they live. Based on 2013 FBI data, Chicago’s North Lawndale area is the second deadliest neighborhood in the country – falling just under three of Detroit’s ghettos. We’re talking about primarily Black communities, one of which is being dubbed ‘Chiraq’. “You can walk into any gun shop in Illinois, buy ten 9-millimeters, walk out the door, and there’s only one recorded transaction on those firearms,” says Garry McCarthy, Chicago Police Department. “To me, that’s just crazy.” Add those facts to President Obama’s recently shut down gun control proposal, and even Stevie Wonder can see today’s gun laws as being designed to control the population of the Black race. Don’t you agree?
