UPDATE: 12/24/12 9:00 A.M. EST
The Huffington Post has reported that the Facebook chat set up by Ryan Lanza to speak with The New York Post was a fake:
Lanza, whose brother Adam was identified as the shooter in Newtown, reportedly created a Facebook page and had an online chat with the New York Post. The Lanza family subsequently informed the Post that the messages were from an impostor.
This story is developing.
Ryan Lanza, the older brother of Sandy Hook Elementary shooter Adam Lanza, says he's a victim of the massacre by losing both his mother and brother.
In a message to the NY Post via Facebook, Ryan says, “I am a victim ... I loss [sic] my mom and brother."
Ryan also posted pics of his brother and mother, each with a message underneath. For his brother, he wrote, "I will miss you bro. I will always love you as long as I live."
On his mother:
"I miss you mom. I love you so much. You will be always in my heart.
The Posts claims Ryan is responding to posts wishing that his brother would "rot in hell." Ryan responded with:
"I am so tired of people blaming me for something my brother did. I love Adam ... But you have no right to call my brother names when he isn’t here no more. Just let my brother rest in peace. Please. Respect that."
Media first misidentified Adam Lanza as his brother because he was carrying his Ryan's ID at the time of the massacre.
The subject remains very tragic and our prayers and condolonces continue to be with the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting.
