ABC News reports neighbors described Adam Lanza as “odd” and displaying characteristics associated with mental illness.
They are also reporting that Nancy Lanza, mother of gunman Adam Lanza, was found dead in her Connecticut home. The 20-year-old man, shot her in the face, authorities told ABC News. Following the murder of his mother, Lanza, carrying at least two semi-automatic pistols and an automatic rifle, drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., where his mother worked. There he killed 20 children and six adults.

The shooter has been identified as 20-year-old Adam Lanza who is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the Connecticut elementary school.
His brother, Ryan Lanza, 24, is currently in custody in New Jersey being questioned by law enforcement. Some reports say Adam Lanza had his brother's ID on him which led to confusion earlier. It is being reported that their mother, Nancy may have been killed inside her Newtown home and not the elementary school.

The shooter, Adam Lanza, 20, was killed from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His girlfriend and friend are currently missing and his brother has been found dead.
There are a total of 20 children dead - 18 died inside the school and 2 others were later pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital. There are 7 adults dead including the shooter at the elementary school crime scene.

The shooter has been identified as Adam Lanza from Hoboken, New Jersey. The shooter's mother was a kindergarten teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School and was found shot dead inside the school.
Bob Orr reports, based on preliminary info, that guns appear to have been purchased legally and belong to Adam Lanza and he has no previous criminal record.
Law enforcement source states Sig Sauer and Glock 9 handguns found at the scene, and a Bushmaster rifle found in his car.

It's believed that the shooter killed one of his parents in New Jersey before driving to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.
The principal of the school, who is thought to be one of the 27 dead has been identified as Dawn Hochsprung. Her last tweet is below:

There are conflicting reports about the age of the gunman. The AP reports a law enforcement official in Washington said the attacker was a 20-year-old man with ties to the school and that one of the guns was a .223-caliber rifle. Though, ABC News reports one shooter is a 24-year-old, was armed with four weapons and wearing a bullet-proof vest.
A second person was taken into custody but it is unconfirmed whether they were involved in the shooting.
One entire classroom is unaccounted for, sources said.

Twenty-seven people are dead, including 18 children, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, officials tell the Associated Press.
Witnesses tell local news outlets they believe the school's principal and psychologist are among the dead. The gunman was also killed and a teacher shot in the foot, according to reports.

The Hartford Courant reports multiple people, including children, have been killed in a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
The number of victims is unclear. Many of the shootings took place in a kindergarten classroom, sources said.

Frustrated parents are trying to get information from officials, who are still actively searching the school.
Eight-year-old Alexis Wasik, a third-grader at the school, said police were checking everybody inside the school before they were escorted to the firehouse.
"We had to walk with a partner," she said.
One child leaving the school said that there was shattered glass everywhere. A police officer ran into the classroom and told them to run outside and keep going until they reach the firehouse.
There are 626 students at the K-4 school.

Police are reporting a number of injured parties. The nature of their injuries is not clear.
State police sources said one shooter is dead. Earlier reports of a second shooter are unconfirmed.
NBC Connecticut reports three people were transported from the Newtown school by ambulance to Danbury Hospital.
Some sad news out of Sandy Hook/Newtown Connecticut this morning, as it's being reported that a shooting has taken place at an elementary school.
Authorities in Connecticut responded to a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Police reported multiple injuries, including a wounded teacher, according to the Hartford Courant.
Shortly after 9:40 a.m., police reported that a shooter was in the main office of the school. A person in one room had “numerous gunshot wounds,” police said.
Groups of students — some crying, some holding hands — were being escorted away from the school by their teachers. Some students were still in the school at 10:30 a.m., parents said.
Dozens of state troopers are on the scene assisting local police. Heavily armed police gathered in front of the school around 10:45 a.m., and a number of stretchers were set up.
A staging area has been set up for students and their parents near the school.
