Stop the violence. Save the vote! Emmett Till, Martin Luther King Jr., and Trayvon Martin were all victims of gun violence. Tupac, The Notorious BIG and the many in Aurora, Colorado were all victims of gun violence. They did not die in vain. Our lost have left a legacy - our legacy is the crusade to stop senseless gun violence.
Crusade for America Parent and Youth March is a part of a national urban peace movement. The urban peace movement is a movement to lower the incidents of gun and other forms of violence in America through public policy and cultural change.
The glorification of thug Life and Gangster living has had terrible consequences for urban communities. The appreciation for human life has been diminished. With over 7,000 African Americans killed each year by gun violence We are unprotected, largely uneducated and unemployed. We must change this reality.
Dr. Martin L. King believed America had a soul, a culture of morality. Others believe America is sinister and simply driven by greed and self interest.
I believe we determine what America will become. Will America continue to eat her young? Will she destroy them with popular culture and leave them dead in the wasteland of poverty? We must decide our own fate. With 12.7 million people unemployed and many more under employed, one-fourth of all children going hungry, mounting student loan debt, alarming municipal bankruptcy, voter suppression and the dismantling of democracy it is time to fight for the future of this nation.
The civil rights movement fought to destroy the institutional and personal citadels of racial prejudice. Today, we fight against the glorification of greed and gangster tactics in our political social and economic life that seek to destroy the low income, the seniors, the minority and those most vulnerable among us.
The Crusade for America Parent and Youth March is a CALL TO ACTION.
Join us in Detroit, MI on August 25 at 12 NOON and be apart of the fight to save THIS nation.
