Is it ‘tis the season to buss your gun off? Apparently so!
A Scottsdale Arizona Gun Club is offering a picture package that’s shooting for Christmas gold. The gun club offers a package deal that allows customers to pose with Santa Claus while modeling their favorite automatic weapons.

Club members can get a print and digital photo for $5, while an image with Santa will run non-members around 10 bucks. The gun club’s catalog shows everyone from kids to vibrant young ladies donning AK-47s, AR-15s and grenade launchers, while old Saint Nick sits jolly as ever.

The gun club’s general manager, Ron Kennedy, said he got the idea for the photo op when a club member dressed as Santa came into the club last year and drew the attention of other members, who wanted their pictures taken with him while holding their guns.

Kennedy said the club is simply trying to provide a safe holiday event that’s an expression of their passion for firearms:
“Our customers have been looking for a fun and safe way to express their holiday spirit and passion for firearms. It’s more of a celebration of their Second Amendment rights.”
Posing with Santa while holding an AK-47 and expressing your second amendment rights is OK I guess, but at the same time, it’s a bit insensitive considering 11 months ago Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head with a semiautomatic weapon.
And that’s the same sentiment expressed by Democratic state Rep. Steve Farley, who said:
“To involve machine guns and Santa in a celebration in the birth of Jesus Christ is the worst kind of heresy I can imagine.”
Farley is the same Congressman who unsuccessfully proposed a ban on large-capacity gun magazines like the one used in the January 8th mass shooting in Tucson, Arizona, that killed six people, including a six year old.
It’s counterproductive to witness a violent gun-wielding tragedy that occurred at the beginning of the year and to celebrate and display the use of guns 11 months later.
Granted, the people posing with their AKs and the gun club management for that matter weren’t thinking about Giffords and how she almost lost her life, but you would think considering that the tragedy happened in their back yard, just such a thought would creep into their minds.
I guess the power of the gun far outweighs the shooting of a Congresswoman.
