UPDATE: 1:30 pm EST

The issue at hand concerns Circuit Judge Jessica Recksiedler, the judge hearing the case. Recksiedler’s husband works for the law firm of Mark NeJame, who’s been hired to act as a CNN analyst for this case.

Circuit Judge Recksiedler said she had an ethical obligation to disclose that and allow Zimmerman’s attorney or the special prosecutor to ask her to step down.

Recksiedler told O’Mara that if he wants a new judge to tell her in writing before next Friday, while State attorneys say they won’t file a motion to get a new judge assigned.

O’Mara has not made that request yet and said that’s an issue that worries him and next week he may ask her to give the case to another judge.

A bond hearing for Zimmerman was set for next Friday, April 20 and O’Mara said he’ll decide if he wants to ask for a new judge by this coming Monday.

Zimmerman did not appear in court for the hearing today.

The status hearing is set for 1:15 p.m. in front of Circuit Court Judge Jessica Recksiedler. The topic of the hearing was not immediately released, but only five minutes are set aside.

The self appointed neighborhood watch captain pursued Trayvon, frightened him, confronted him, then shot him during a struggle, according to a probable-cause affidavit released yesterday.
