Judge Kenneth Lester had dismissed George Zimmerman’s request for new judge. Lester wrote that if not for a satellite monitoring system keeping track of Zimmerman’s whereabouts, he might well have fled.

In his ruling today, Lester wrote that the motion was insufficient.

Last month, Zimmerman attorney Mark O’Mara asserted that the judge and court “departed from its role as an impartial, objective minister of justice” and should therefore be removed from the case after Lester’s July 5 order that set $1 million bail for Zimmerman and claimed that Zimmerman had “flaunted the system” and practiced “deception upon the court.”

Lester described Zimmerman as a manipulator who was gaming the criminal justice system by hiding $130,000 and keeping a secret passport.

Zimmerman is currently out of jail on bail and will remain in a safe house in Seminole County, Fla. until the trial begins.
