More discovery evidence has been released to George Zimmerman’s defense team as hundreds of pages of documents, surveillance video, crime scene photos and 911 calls Zimmerman made on the night he shot and killed Trayvon Martin.
The new discovery evidence will also include a printout of Zimmerman's his MySpace page and cell phone records for Trayvon's father, Tracy.
According to GZLegalcase.com, the defense will have 30 days to review the discovery before it is made available to the public as the discovery phase in the case is ongoing.
Yesterday, the prosecution delivered a second round of discovery to the defense. The discovery package includes 7 compact discs and hundreds of pages of documents including 21 new witnesses, emails by Zimmerman and Sanford PD chief and 10 FBI reports.
It also includes surveillance video, police radio transmissions, crime scene photos, 911 calls Mr. Zimmerman made prior to the night of the shooting, and more. The documents include a crime scene diagram, and additional reports from the Sanford Police Department, FDLE, and the FBI. According the June 1 ruling of the Court, the defense will have 30 days to review the discovery before it is made available to the public.
The discovery process is ongoing, and we expect additional discovery to be disclosed as the case develops.
One of the 21 witnesses were named and identified as Khaled Akkawi, president of Shoot Straight, a chain of gun stores and ranges.
He told he Orlando Sentinel that he had no idea he was a witness in the case. He said he knows O'Mara, but not Zimmerman saying- "I want to stay the hell away from it."
Akkawi said he'd heard Zimmerman had been to the Shoot Straight location in Casselberry. Two of the other witnesses listed work at that location, Akkawi said, and a third runs the Apopka store.
Also among the witnesses: Matt Brantly Jr. and D' Andre Stinnett of Brantly & Associates, a Central Florida tactical firearms training facility.
Prosecutors also listed John Wright, a Sanford private investigator.
Much of the new evidence is in the form of reports written by people at the scene or those who were part of the investigation. It was found also that another witness works at Chuluota Sportsmen's Club. Former Seminole County deputy, firearms trainer.
Among the thousands of pieces of evidence set to be released to the public, photos depicting Trayvon's body will not.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for June 29 as Zimmerman continues to sit in a cell as he faces a second-degree murder charge in the Feb. 26 shooting.
