GlobalGrind is a proud vegan website. Although we have reported on celebrities wearing clothes made out of fur or leather in the past, we are officially taking a different turn.

With Russell Simmons, PETA’s Man of The Year and a devout animal rights activist, as our head honcho, Russell has decided to ban all fur from GlobalGrind.

A press release was sent out, stating:

Mogul Russell Simmons, PETA’s Man of The Year, has vowed to never allow fur to appear in any fashion editorial pictorials on his website, GlobalGrind. Simmons is proud to join the growing number of compassionate people who are saying no to fur.

Eighty-five percent of the fur industry’s skins come from animals living captive in fur factory farms.

Animals on fur farms spend their entire lives confined to cramped, filthy wire cages. Fur farmers use the cheapest and cruelest killing methods available, including suffocation, electrocution (including anal and vaginal), gas, and poison.

Animals who are trapped in the wild can suffer for days from blood loss, shock, dehydration, frostbite, gangrene, and attacks by predators. They may be caught in steel-jaw traps that slam down on their legs, often cutting to the bone; Conibear traps, which crush their necks with 90 pounds of pressure per square inch; or water-set traps, which leave beavers, muskrats, and other animals struggling for more than nine agonizing minutes before drowning. GlobalGrind stands in solidarity with PETA and other animal advocacy groups who are pushing for worldwide fur bans.

For as long as I run the company and hold the title of CEO of GlobalGrind I will make sure that we edit out any fur that appears in our fashion editorials. I see it as one part of doing a small part to do less harm and lift the consciousness of people on this planet,” says Simmons.
