As a community continues to mourn the death of 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, police, volunteers, family and friends are working tirelessly to gather any information they can about the shooting.

Because of the difficult task, sources say police have raised the amount of the reward from $11,000 to $40,000, mostly from donated funds.

The increase was announced at an anti-violence march in Hadiya's honor at her school, King College Prep High School.

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy and other police officials announced the increased reward in advance of an anti-violence march in her honor that left from her high school and ended at the park where she was killed.

Chicago cops say they have been deluged with tips about who might have shot Pendleton.

“Fortunately, the community is stepping up and giving us everything that they’ve got, from rumors to whatever they know,” Police Supt. Garry McCarthy told NBC Chicago on Friday. “Something’s gonna pan out.”

Since the shooting, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has pleaded with city residents to drop the no-snitching credo of the streets and come forward with any leads about Pendleton’s killer.

We continue to pray that justice is served for Hadiya and her family.
