Heavy D's cause of death back on November 9, 2011 remained a mystery - until now.

STORY: Heavy D Is Dead

TMZ is reporting that the hip-hop icon died from a pulmonary embolism caused by deep leg vein thrombosis, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office. 

As Reported by TMZ:

A pulmonary embolism is a blockage of one or more arteries in the lungs -- most often caused by blood clots which travel in from other parts of the body. In Heavy's case, the clot was formed in his legs. 

Officials say Heavy also suffered from heart disease, which could have been a contributing factor in his death. 

The Coroner's Office has classified the death as "natural."

Heavy D collapsed outside his Beverly Hills home on Nov. 8. The 44 year-old rapper, whose real name was Dwight Errington, died later at a hospital. 

We still miss our overweight lover, Rest in Peace Heavy.
