VIDEO: MAZEL TOV! The White House & Republicans Come To A Deal To Avoid Fiscal Cliff!

The Associated Press reports that House Republicans pulled a bill that would have given billions in emergency relief to Hurricane Sandy victims, prompting an immediate response from New York area lawmakers.

The $60.4 billion measure, which was pulled by Speaker John Boehner, was Senate approved on Friday and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor insisted that the bill would reach the House floor on Tuesday. The House, however, decided to abandon a vote this session, holding up the funds. No immediate comments have been made about the delay.

“This is an absolute disgrace and the Speaker should hang his head in shame,” said Rep. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y.

“I’m here tonight saying to myself for the first time that I’m not proud of the decision my team has made,” said Rep. Michael Grimm, R-N.Y. “It is the wrong decision, and I’m going to be respectful and ask that the speaker reconsider his decision. Because it’s not about politics, it’s about human lives.”

“I truly feel betrayed this evening,” said Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y.

“We need to be there for all those in need now after Hurricane Sandy,” said Rep. Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y.

More than $2 billion in federal funds have already been used for the hurricane relief in

New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, District of Columbia, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, New Hampshire, Delaware, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

We don’t know if the GOP are upset about the fiscal cliff deal or what, but if they are, they need to get that chip off their shoulder so that hurricane affected areas can get the help they need. Petty. SMH.
