Actress and activist Jada Pinkett Smith is telling Congress to step up in the fight against human trafficking, both in the U.S. and abroad.

STORY: Jada Pinkett Smith Bares It All For Stand Against Human Trafficking

The actress testified during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing Tuesday, saying that she plans to launch a campaign to raise awareness and inspire people to act against human trafficking and slavery, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

She credited her 11-year-old daughter, Willow, who sat nearby, for bringing the issue to her attention. Will Smith, Jada’s husband and Willow’s father was also present.

Jada says human slavery, “robs us of the thing we value most, our freedom.”

Anyone who’s seen the movie Taken could imagine the unspeakable horrors of human trafficking. But unless your dad’s an invincible Liam Neeson, your story won’t end so well.

Good for Jada for bringing awareness to such an important issue.
