An off-duty AGC Aerospace and Defense employee, accused of blurting out a racial slur and then slapping a 19-month-old baby, has been fired. Joe Rickey Hundley from Idaho has been charged with assaulting a minor.

The 19-month-old began to cry as the plane took off. Jessica Bennett, mother of the child, tried to ease the child’s discomfort when Hundley told her to “shut the (‘N word’) baby up” and slapped the child in the face.

A statement was released by AGC Aerospace & Defense in regards to Hundley’s unacceptable behavior: “Reports of the recent behavior of one of our business unit executives while on personal travel are offensive and disturbing. We have taken this matter very seriously and worked diligently to examine it since learning of the matter on Friday afternoon. As of Sunday, the executive is no longer employed with the company.”

The family of the toddler has decided to move forward with legal action, but have not decided whether or not to file a lawsuit. The family’s attorney, John Thompson, confirmed with CNN that the family wants to ensure that this never happens to another child.

Bennett told KARE she was in disbelief as she witnessed the attack and that she felt like she was in “another world.”

Luckily for the toddler and his parents, witnesses have not shied away from the situation.

Hundley has a past of violence. If convicted, he could face a year in jail.

WTF?! How could you be so cruel?
