House of Representatives member Jon Hubbard wrote a new self-published book in which he states that slavery was a “blessing” and implies that African American students are lazy, among a list of racially-charged bigotry.
According to the Huffington Post, the Republican House member makes some racially explicit statements that discuss slavery in a harsh manner, as well as immigration.
The book reads on slavery:
“… the institution of slavery that the black race has long believed to be an abomination upon its people may actually have been a blessing in disguise. The blacks who could endure those conditions and circumstances would someday be rewarded with citizenship in the greatest nation ever established upon the face of the Earth.”
He then said of immigration:
"... the immigration issue, both legal and illegal ... will lead to planned wars or extermination. Although now this seems to be barbaric and uncivilized, it will at some point become as necessary as eating and breathing."
The site also reports that Jon Hubbard has a history for these type of outlandish views, so this book should come as no surprise.
