In a bizarre series of events, a convicted killer obsessed with Justin Bieber planned on killing the pop star by enlisting the help of a fellow inmate, but at the last minute, he blew the whistle on his accomplices.

Dana Martin, who is serving two life sentences at Las Cruces (New Mexico) for killing and raping a 15-year-old girl, enlisted the help of fellow inmate Mark Staake to carry out the murder.
According to KRQE News, Staake later recruited his nephew, Tanner Ruane, to help with the plan once Staake was released from jail. Apparently, they planned to execute the murder plan in NYC last month, where Bieber was performing at MSG.
Martin reportedly told police the plan was to kidnap Bieber and his bodyguard and strangle them with paisley ties, Martin’s calling card. Ruane was then going to castrate them.
Ruane made it to NY with a stash of tools — including pruning shears — but according to the report police intercepted him before anything happened, and placed him under arrest.
Staake was arrested in Vermont on outstanding warrants.

It’s unclear when and why the murder plot was hatched, but KRQE said that Martin is fixated with Bieber and even has a tattoo of him on his leg. Maybe he was having second thoughts, but whatever the case, we’re glad the plan was foiled!
