Two people, including a 10-year-old girl, were shot while cooling off at an open fire hydrant on Chicago’s West Side.
According to wgntv.com, the shooting happened in the 200 block of North Leamington Avenue in the Austin neighborhood around 11:30 Tuesday night.
Kitanna Peterson was playing in the water bursting from the hydrant when someone opened fire nearby. Kitanna was shot twice. She suffered a gunshot wound to her abdomen and her left wrist.
Paul Allen, 25, was also shot.
A bullet pierced his right hand. Allen is the boyfriend of Kitanna’s mother.
Kitanna was transported to John H. Stroger Hospital. She is currently listed in Critical Condition, and her condition has stabilized this morning. Allen received treatment at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park.
