UPDATE: 10:30 PM EST

 

Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne has identified the victim as Brandon Lincoln Woodward of Los Angeles, Ca. Despite earlier speculation, Woodward was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after a gun shot at close range to the head.

According to CNN:

The gunman approached the victim from behind as both walked on West 58th Street between 7th Avenue and Broadway. After firing, the assailant entered the front passenger seat of a parked vehicle and fled the scene, according to police.

UPDATE: 5:30 PM EST

Police have yet to identify the victim of this afternoon’s shooting in midtown, but authorities have confirmed that the 31-year-old male is from the Los Angeles area.

Authorities have also confirmed that he has a criminal record.

Police are continuing to review surveillance camera footage from the area and believe they have a picture of the gunman.

UPDATE: 3:45 PM EST

Reports say a suspect was seen fleeing from the scene wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and khakis and driving a grey vehicle with New York license plates.

Officials have also confirmed that the victim, 31, was shot execution style, in the back of the head. This story is developing.

Now can we do something about the gun laws?

An unidentified man has been shot in the head, in broad daylight, at 58th Street and Broadway in midtown Manhattan just before 2PM EST this afternoon.

CBS reports the man was shot near Columbus Circle as the shooting victim was in a car at 58th Street and Broadway. The unidentified man was rushed to Roosevelt Hospital in “very critical” condition.

Initial reports suggest police are searching for a car that fled the scene.
