According to The Los Angeles Times, he Marine, who is a staff sergeant with 10 years in the corps under his belt, wrote in a tweet, “Rifle range all day today. Shooting black all day like George Zimmerman.”

The Times reports that the targets on the rifle range were painted black.

According to The Los Angeles Times, once the post was discovered, the Marine closed both his Twitter and MySpace accounts, according to the report.

After contacting a reporter for the Marine Corps Times, he apologized for the post saying, “It was a distasteful comment that was said. I guess at the time I didn't realize how one comment would affect so many people negatively, and for that I apologize to everybody.”
