Several right-wing activists have come forth in recent weeks with anti-gay implorations, none more severe than Maryland-based pastor Dennis Leatherman.
Leatherman took his viewpoint to the extreme when he claimed that he “kind of likes” the idea of killing all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transsexual (LGBT) People.
This pastor preaches at the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church in Oakland, Maryland.
A recent Leatherman sermon was a 50 minute long, gruesomely homophobic tirade titled “Homosexuality and the Bible.”
Here is a segment of said sermon:
"To be…have a tendency to be effeminate or homosexual is just as wicked as to have a tendency to be a womanizer."
Leatherman goes on to say:
"Sinful nature does not justify sinful behavior. Now what is our take? What is our response?"
"First of all, there is a danger of reacting in the flesh, of responding not in a scriptural, spiritual way, but in a fleshly way. Kill them all. Right? I will be very honest with you. My flesh kind of likes that idea...but it grieves the Holy Spirit. It violates Scripture. It is wrong."
This rant from Leatherman has only been the most recent of a series of anti-gay touting. Leatherman’s sermon came only the next day after Kansas-based pastor declared that the U.S. Government should “kill gays.”
Previous to this, North Carolina pastor Charles L. Worley trashed President Barack Obama for his endorsement of same-sex marriage. Worley stated, "Gays and lesbians should be put in an electrified pen and left to die off."
Also of North Carolina, founding pastor of Berean Baptist Church Ron Baity (Head of anti-marriage equality organization Return America) told his parish that LGBT people should be prosecuted against as they were historically.
Tim Rabon of Beacon Baptist Church in Raleigh, N.C. criticizes states such as Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maryland for “redefining” the laws of marriage to include same-sex couples.
"What is stopping them from refining marriage from a person and a beast? We're not far from that."
For a man who is supposed to preach on the goodness of the lord, he sure has a lot of hate in him.
