Is there anything this guy can’t do!?

PHOTOS: Now That’s Dope! Mayor Cory Booker Opens Up His Crib To Newark In Wake Of Hurricane

After a reporter and a camera crew noticed a dog left out in the freezing cold while they were working on a story, they took the issue to Twitter and to Newark Mayor Cory Booker to see if he could do something about it.

Booker, who uses his Twitter account to talk to his constituents, saw the tweet and many retweets from reporter Toni Yates, where she applauded Newark for its heat help, but said there was one other issue:

“Make pet owners get their dogs out of the cold.”

In another tweet, she wrote that she asked the block captain to “do something, call someone,” but doubted he would.

But do something he did! Booker was on the scene almost immediately and picked the shivering dog up himself to take him out of the cold.

“This is brutal weather. This dog is shaking really bad and you just can’t leave your dogs out here on a day like this and go away and expect them to be OK,” the mayor told WABC. “Hypothermia on any animal including a human animal will set in pretty quickly. So this is very sad. You can just feel the dog shaking pretty badly.”

Booker carried the dog to a police car and put him in the back.

“If you’d crank up that heat, I’d appreciate it,” he told the police officer.

He then called the dog’s owner and told them that is was unacceptable to leave their dog in the freezing cold. The owners, from Queens, N.Y., said that they did not know that Cha Cha (who is also a new mother to puppies) had gotten out. They thanked the mayor and said it wouldn’t happen again.

That’s a heartwarming story if I ever heard one!

Is Cory Booker, who is also considering running for Senate, secretly Captain Planet or Batman or something?
