First Lady Michelle Obama is fighting back against allegations in a new book written by New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor.

The book, The Obamas, characterizes Michelle as a force in the Executive Mansion, with strong views often conflicting with President Barack Obama’s top advisers.

Mrs. Obama sat down with CBS News and said she doesn’t understand why some have tried to portray her as an “angry black woman.”

She told CBS’ Gayle King:

“I guess it’s more interesting to imagine this conflicted situation here and a strong woman and– you know? But that’s been an image that people have tried to paint of me since the day Barack announced, that I’m some angry black woman.”

Speaking on being the First Lady Mrs. Obama said, “I love this job. It has been a privilege from day one.” But admits the biggest challenge is constantly worrying about her daughters.

“Now there are challenges. If there’s any anxiety that I feel, it’s because I want to make sure that my girls (Malia and Sasha) come out of this on the other end whole.”

Kantor’s book, The Obamas, continues to rattle the cages of those in the White House and will surely be the talk of the town in the weeks to come.
