Yesterday TIME Magazine announced that President Barack Obama is the Person of the Year. And we agreed.

PHOTOS: THIS Is Why Barack Obama Is The Person Of The Year…

But then I did some thinking. And some research. And now I want to petition TIME to consider this:

Why not pick a woman?

Get this: A woman has not made it to the front page of Time Magazine for Person of the Year since 1986. Her name was Corazon Aquino and she was the eleventh president of the Philippines. She was a housewife who rose to power, who broke barriers, who restored democracy in a torn country. She was a woman. And she was Person of the Year 26 years ago.

Then it stopped.

Since then, there have been hundreds of women that could be considered. And some even made the short list of nominees. But no one, not Oprah, not Hillary, not Nancy Pelosi. Not Condoleezza. Not Sonya. Not one has graced the cover at this time of year.

Well TIME, here’s your moment. Every year women show the same bravery, compassion, power, resilience and strength as the men nominated, yet they are snubbed. So here’s our pick for Person of The Year: Our FLOTUS!

Let’s see. She helped her husband win an election. She is Mom-In-Chief before anything. Her “Let’s Move” campaign is leading our children into a healthier future. She shows true leadership in every initiative she commits, and she understands what it takes to have a better America.

She probably should be president.

And while she’s accomplished all of these things over the past four years, it was this year that we really came to understand her role in our country. During the election when the very real possibility that she might not be our FLOTUS anymore, people pulled together not just for Obama…but for Michelle as well.

But if that’s too heavy for you…here are some other reasons we really loved Michelle this year:

Michelle covered the campaign trail with the same ferocity as her husband. Her humanity made her relatable. Her leadership made us feel secure. And her dedication got the First Couple re-elected. She takes her job seriously…standing next to the President as a unit. Like this was her own campaign. And it was.

The most, endearing, sweetest, speaks volumes about their marriage, tweeted picture ever. No seriously.

Her faith. It’s strong enough for her family. It’s strong enough for other families. It’s strong enough to make an entire country believe in her.

These arms. I need to get back in the gym.

Matter of fact…”Let’s Move.” She doesn’t get arms like that sitting up in the White House. She’s led a whole generation into a healthier lifestyle.

She’s a dog person.

Color blocking and high fives. HELLO!!!

She’s a complete ham and knows how to let loose.

This coat. Coat game was on point this year.

The kids. We told you yesterday that the kids don’t lie.

She’s classy. And while the boys fight and argue, she’s woman enough to be respectful while still being invested in her party. Talk about bipartisanship.

This entire speech.

And THIS dress during that speech.

She’s a hugger. Clearly. But we love her for that. Who doesn’t love a hugger?

She’s not afraid to eat. Besides, she’ll just dance to some Beyonce if she wants to shake some lb’s off.

Her baby girls grew up this year. And that’s enough to give any mom a heart attack. But Michelle need not worry, if they are anything like their mom, they’ll grow up to be respectful, inspiring women.

She reads to the kiddies. And she still lets Bo’s big behind sit on her lap.

She is still committed to assisting military families.

She gives, and gives and gives. Her time. Her energy. Her heart. Her everything.

She loves, supports, and understands the most powerful man in our nation. She guides him, she’s a soundboard and a rock for him during tough times. She is the force behind, inside and in front of our President:

I see the concern in his eyes…and I hear the determination in his voice as he tells me, “You won’t believe what these folks are going through, Michelle…it’s not right.  We’ve got to keep working to fix this.  We’ve got so much more to do.”

I see how those stories – our collection of struggles and hopes and dreams – I see how that’s what drives Barack Obama every single day.

Now how many people do that everyday? Only one. We love you Michelle Obama!
