Big Bird memes have taken over the internet, after Mitt Romney said he would get rid of PBS, the same channel that aires Sesame Street, during the first presidential debate.

The best one-liner from the first presidential debate last night came from Governor Mitt Romney, when he indicated that he would fire Big Bird in order to cut federal spending!

While speaking at the University of Denver, Romney told the debate moderator, PBS News Hour Host Jim Lehrer, that although he likes PBS and Big Bird, he would cut their funding if he became president.

"I'm sorry Jim. I'm gonna stop the subsidy to PBS. I'm gonna stop other things. I like PBS. I like Big Bird. I actually like you too," Mitt said. 

Romney's attack on the lovable yellow bird immediately sent the social media world into a frenzy. Of course, a "@FiredBigBird" Twitter account sprang up and the disgruntled muppet began tweeting back at Romney's remark.
