Stick with us Nelson Mandela!

The former South African president has been reportedly taken to the hospital, which doesn’t come too long after he was just released.

According to the Huffington Post, Mandela is in “serious but stable” condition after being treated for a lung infection, which the government revealed in a statement.

Mandela was last released April 6 for pneumonia, and has been extremely “vulnerable to respiratory problems” since he contracted tuberculosis.

The office of President Jacob Zuma said in a statement:

“During the past few days, former President Nelson Mandela has had a recurrence of lung infection,” said a statement from the office of President Jacob Zuma. “This morning at about 1.30a.m., his condition deteriorated and he was transferred to a Pretoria hospital.”

They also said that “doctors are doing everything possible to make him better and comfortable.”

His wife, Graca Machel recently canceled some appearances due to “personal reasons”, according to a spokeswoman for the meeting she was supposed to attend.

Mac Maharaj, the president’s spokesman said:

“We need to hold our thoughts and keep him in our minds. He is a fighter, he has recovered many times from very serious conditions and he will be with us. Let’s pray for him and help him to get better.”

We’re definitely keeping Mandela in our prayers and hope for a speedy recovery!
