Today will mark 10 funerals since Monday. Twenty-seven people, not including the gunman, were shot and killed last week on Friday.

Funerals today will include the service for Victoria Soto, hero and first-grade teacher who saved her students by stepping in the line of fire. She hid her students in a closet and told Adam Lanza that they were in gym. He then shot her to death.

Daniel Barden, 7, was also laid to rest this morning at St. Rose of Lima Church. An aspiring firefighter, he was described by his family as a little boy who loved playing sports and drums with his brother James, 12, and sister Natalie, 10.

In a show of support for the Barden family, Little Daniel’s funeral was attended by a handful of firemen from as far as New York City; a display of kindness that his family said was sure to have made his dreams come true.

Charlotte Bacon and Caroline Previdi, both 6, will also be remembered today.

Charlotte is described as an “extraordinarily gifted six-year-old” whose parents said “filled her family each day with joy and love.”

“The family will forever remember her beautiful smile, her energy for life, and the unique way she expressed her individuality usually with the color pink,” they said in a statement. “Charlotte never met and animal she didn’t love, and since the age of two wanted to be a Veterinarian.”

St. Rose of Lima Church will also host the funeral of Caroline Previdi, a little girl who loved drawing and dancing.

“Caroline Phoebe Previdi was a blessing from God and brought joy to everyone she touched,” her parents, Jeff and Sandy Previdi, said. “We know that she is looking down on us from Heaven.”

As always, these families and the town of Newtown are in our prayers.
