Nick Ashford of the legendary Motown group, Ashford and Simpson, has died today at the age of 70. He had throat cancer.  His long-time friend and publicist Liz Rosenberg told the Associated Press the sad news this afternoon.

Ashford, one half of the group, Ashford And Simpson, along with Valerie Simpson wrote some of Motown’s biggest smashes, including: “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” ”You’re All I Need To Get By” and “Reach Out And Touch Somebody’s Hand.”  He will be missed.
