It’s no surprise that some of America’s most powerful unions have joined forces to show solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street protesters.

For example, on Wednesday, members of the A.F.L.-C.I.O., a union that’s been around since the 1950s, had a conference call in which they expressed their support for the protest.
