Church That Planned To Picket Sandy Hook Funerals May Be Labeled A Hate Group! (PHOTOS)

Another We The People White House petition is gaining traction! A petition to legally recognize the Westboro Baptist Church, infamous for their unconventional and offensive protests, as a hate group, has garnered nearly 250,000 signatures.

Less than a day after the Sandy Hook shootings, members of the church announced plans to protest the funerals and Obama's visit to the grieving town.

“Westboro will picket Sandy Hook Elementary School to sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment," Shirley Phelps-Roper, a member of the church, tweeted.

The church is known for protesting the funerals of U.S. service members. They've also been known to demonstrate against the homosexuality, Jewish people, and other minorities
