DETAILS: Stop The Gun Violence! Less Than 12 Hours Into The New Year, Dozens Are Shot

The couple, Keith Lawrence, 27, and Monica Quan, 28, were found in a car last night in front of the home that they had just moved into, dead from apparent gun wounds.

Lawrence and Quan, who is the daughter of a LAPD captain, were found in their white Kia.

The town won the accolade from the FBI as safest town for the eighth straight year for its crime rate (120 violent crimes for 2011-12)

Police have no leads in the double murder.

The couple, who met while undergraduate students at Concordia University, did not appear to have been mugged and officers said it was not a case of murder-suicide.

Lt. Julia Engen of the Irvine Police Department said: “It doesn’t appear they were robbed. There’s no obvious motive.”

Quan, who was a masters student, was working as an assistant coach for the woman’s basketball team at Cal State Fullerton. Lawrence, a business graduate, was an armed public-safety officer at USC and had graduated from Ventura County Sheriff’s Academy.
