On the same day that the couple’s premature baby passed away, police are identifying Julio Acevedo as the man who allegedly killed the baby’s parents in a hit and run car crash in Brooklyn.

The 44-year-old is being treated as the suspect in this case. A New York Police Department spokesman said that Acevedo had a DWI arrest in February and was going about 60 mph when the car slammed into the livery cab, taking Nachman and Raizy Glauber to the hospital.

Raizy, who was seven months pregnant, did not survive the crash and doctors performed a cesarean section to save the baby just moments after his parents died. He died this morning, according to Isaac Abraham, a spokesman for the family’s Orthodox Jewish community.

“We in the community are demanding that the prosecutor charge the driver of BMW that caused the death of this couple and infant … with triple homicide,” Abraham said in a statement. “This coward left the scene of the accident not even bothering to check on the people of the other car.”

Police initially believed the BMW driver had a passenger, but now say he was alone in the vehicle.
