On Tuesday night at the NARAL’s Pro-Choice annual dinner, after agreeing to compromise on his contraceptive coverage policy, President Obama sent out a video in which he stated his support for a woman’s right to choose.

“Tonight we celebrate the historic Roe v. Wade decision handed down 40 years ago, but we also gather to recommit ourselves to the decision’s guiding principle: that women should be able to make their own choices about their bodies and their health care,” the President firmly stated.

Truuuuuu!!!

“We reaffirm our steadfast commitment to protecting women’s access to safe, affordable health care, and her right to reproductive freedom because we know that we are better off as a nation when women are treated fairly and equally in every aspect of life, whether it’s the salary you earn or the health decisions you make,” Obama said. “This is a country where the success of all of us depends on the empowerment of each us.”

Well said, Mr. President.

The White House proposed a new rule last week that would exempt non-profit religious groups from giving money towards this contraceptive coverage that many of them believe is immoral. Instead, the government is working on a policy that would allow the money to come from a different place.

Do you agree with what President Obama had to say?
