The 411 On Rodney King's Legacy (PHOTOS)

If anyone knows about the history of police brutality in America, they know the name Rodney King.

According to TMZ, Rodney was pronounced dead today at 6:11 AM in Rialito, California. The local ambulance responded to a phone call by his fiancée at 5:25 AM PT. Upon their arrival medics physically removed Rodney from a swimming pool and attempted to perform CPR but the process failed to revive Rodney.

As of now information regarding his death is limited and authorities are now conducting a drowning investigation.

Rodney’s history with police brutality dates back to 1991 when footage was released of him being brutality beaten by Los Angeles policemen. The violent incident was captured by a local bystander who filmed it from a distance.

The brutality committed by the officers sparked nationwide outcry. Since the incident Rodney has been a vocal advocate against police brutality in America. He has also struggled with his alcohol addiction which landed him into a lot of trouble with the law following his beating in 1991.
