The list of America’s most dangerous cities has been revealed by Forbes.com and Detroit tops the list. Michigan’s Motor City logged 345 murders last year alone.

The FBI said that Forbes list should not be taken seriously because any given city could still have a lot of unreported crimes.

Either way, the list was compiled with four factors that are the direct results of violent crimes, murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

Those are the factors that go into determining what makes up a dangerous city. Take a look at the cities that you need to watch your back in.

Rockford, IL:

This quaint Midwest city logged 760 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

Las Vegas, NV:

In the City of Sin there have been 763 violent crimes per 100,000 residents in the metro area since 2010, which includes 4,696 robberies and 9,296 aggravated assaults.

Tallahassee, FL

Rapper T-Pain always sings about his beloved Tallahassee, but the drug trade and robberies have made Florida’s capital city the leader in crime, with 775 violent crimes per 100,000 residents. Its location on Interstate 10 makes it an attractive city for drug runners who bring contraband north from Miami and the surrounding area.

Stockton, CA:

Known as a drug transit route, Stockton logged 805 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

Route I-5 runs right through the town, serving as a conduit for drugs from Mexico all the way up the Pacific Coast. Wolfram says the drug trade has led to gang competition for turf, which has fueled violence.

Lubbock, TX:

Known as “Hub City” because of its location as a transit hub for drugs coming north from Mexico, Lubbock has logged 808 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

Anchorage Alaska:

Drugs and rape contribute to the crime rate in Anchorage, logging 813 violent crimes per 100,000 residents. They have the largest rate of forcible rape, while the sale and use of Methamphetamine has been a perennial problem in Anchorage.

Flint, Michigan:

The home town of acclaimed film maker Michael Moore has logged an estimated 827 violent crimes per 100,000 residents. With a dismale local economy and a high unemployment rate, the crime rate continues to climb.

The Springfield Illinois:

This is not the Springfield in The Simpsons, a reported 855 violent crimes per 100,000 residents have taken place in 2010.

Springfield has an unemployment rate which is lower than the national average at 7 percent as of July 2011.

Memphis Hits:

With 19.1 percent of residents within the Memphis metro area living below the poverty line in 2010, the city of blues logged 1,006 violent crimes per 100,000 residents last year, down from 1,146 in 2009.

Detroit Rock City:

With its declining economy and with one of the highest poverty rates in the country, Detroit consistently ranks as one of America’s most crime-ridden cities. In 2010 Detroit had 1,111 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.
