BLOG: No Gays Allowed? It’s Time For The NFL To Man Up

When appearing on Artie Lange’s radio show, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver had some not-so-very-nice things to say about accepting gays in the world of football.

“I don’t do the gay guys man,” said Culliver (per Yahoo! Sports). “I don’t do that. No, we don’t got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do.

“Can’t be with that sweet stuff. Nah…can’t be…in the locker room man. Nah.”

His comments come at a time when the discussion of homosexuality in football is heating up. Brendon Ayanbadejo of the Baltimore Ravens has been extremely vocal with his support of gay marriage. On the other spectrum, Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o is being accused of being gay in the macho sport, something that many say will ruin his draft status.

But Culliver must have realized how insensitive his comments were, because he gave somewhat of an apology via Twitter.

Thoughts in your head, but not how you feel? Not sure how that works, so maybe you guys can help us figure it out.

What do you think about football’s homophobic culture?
