24-year-old Iraq war veteran Scott Olsen remains in critical condition after he was shot in the head with rubber bullets by Oakland Police Tuesday night.

Scott was blindsided by police after a peaceful Occupy Oakland demonstration took a violent turn.

As Olsen remains in the hospital, a new video has surfaced showing the Iraq war veteran, minutes before Oakland riot police launched a rubber bullet in his head, fracturing his skull.

Raleigh Latham, the aunt of Scott Olsen, filmed Tuesday’s action throughout the course of the day and stood on the front lines with protesters when they confronted police.

In the video, you can see Olsen marching peacefully while talking with a fellow demonstrator.

Olsen has become somewhat of a symbol in the last 24 hours for the Occupy movement, given his veteran status and the fact that he was an innocent bystander during a peaceful protest.

Here are a few things to know about the Iraq war veteran.

Scott Olsen is a US marine who served 2 tours of duty in Iraq, one in 2006 and the other in 2007.

Olsen moved to the Bay area in July and he left the military in 2010.

Olsen is originally from Wisconsin. His family still lives there and they are flying out to see him in the hospital.

Olsen was in the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines serving two tours in Iraq.

Olsen had been opposed to the Iraq war even before his first tour to the country. Olsen met his roommate Keith Shannon in November 2005, and share an apartment in Daly City, south of San Francisco. Here is Shannon being interviewed by Keith Olbermann.
