Looks like tennis great Serena Williams‘ injury and temper are catching up to her!

Sloane Stephens, 19, stunned her childhood idol when she beat her in the Australian Open semi-finals. Stephens outplayed Williams, who was recovering from a back injury, and beat her 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.

It was Williams’ first defeat since Aug. 17 and her first loss at a Grand Slam tournament since last year’s French Open. And she didn’t take the tennis battle lightly either.

Williams was given a code violation when she slammed her tennis racket into the ground, sending the mangled equipment into the bench. She seemed visibly upset and frustrated, but she ended the match congratulating Stephens on her victory.

According to The Daily Beast, it isn’t much of a surprise that the girl 12 years Serena’s junior is a rising star:

Sloane has been on the radar of tennis fans for years now. The teenager has bounded up the rankings in 2013, registering a 9-2 record coming into Wednesday’s affair.

“She can be the greatest player,” Serena said earlier in the week in Melbourne.

Well, even the greatest of all time has to give up their position at some point. We still love you though, Serena. Congrats to Stephens!
