After two bombs killed three and injured more than 180 people during the Boston Marathon this week, the outpour of love and support for the great city of Boston didn’t stop at first responders, President Obama and celebrities.

In a heartwarming and never before seen display of honor, respect and support, sports teams around the nation threw aside their competition bravado and opened up their stadiums, cleats, baseball bats, and hockey sticks to Boston.

Thought you were an Orioles fan? Not tonight you aren’t. Right now, it’s all about Boston!

Here are some of our favorites:

The New York Yankees observe a moment of silence to honor the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. All uniformed team members also donned jersey number 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson Day.

Moment of silence before the Clippers vs. Blazers game to honor the victims in Boston.

A note from a young Cleveland fan hangs in the visitors’ dugout prior to the game between the Cleveland Indians and the Boston Red Sox.

Shane Victorino of the Boston Red Sox sits in the dugout, keeping the sweet note company.

Keith Aucoin #10 of the New York Islanders skates in warmups right before playing against the Florida Panthers with skates bearing the words ‘Pray for Boston’ scribbled on the side.

…Don’t believe that a New Yorker would ever support Boston? Take a closer look…

Duct tape and a marker will do. Ben Revere of the Philadelphia Phillies made sure that his glove joined in on the support.

And Miami resident Lalo Senior, although not a part of any sports team, wrote ‘Run For Boston 4.15.13,’ on his shirt to honor his fellow runners.

New York ALWAYS represents…but this time it was for the Big B.

Talk about class. Even though some of these hard New Yorkers don’t look too happy about supporting their rival, the Yankees played “Sweet Caroline,” a song that always plays during Red Sox games.
