Shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning, a disturbance started near the center of the campus, where students gathered to protest the Tuesday night re-election.

As reported by Clarion Ledger:

Students were heard shouting racial epithets about Obama and African Americans in general.

Police were called to the scene and the crowd broke up around 12:30 a.m. A dispatcher with the university police department said he could not release any details on why police were called to campus.

One Twitter user, @BIGSMOOV012, shared a photo that showed several students crowding into an intersection where police allegedly responded. The crowd did not appear to be doing anything but mulling around.

Thankfully, no students were hurt or arrested during the protests.
