Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus created quite a bit of controversy after he made a statement comparing President Barack Obama to the captain of Italian cruise ship Costa Concordia.

Costa Concordia sunk on January 13th, 2012 off the Coast of Giglio Island. Its captain, Francesco Schettino, was arrested on manslaughter after allegations that he fled the ship amidst disaster in progress.

In an interview on CBS's Face the Nation Priebus said:

"In a few months, this is all going to be ancient history and we’re going to talk about our own little Captain Schettino, which is President Obama who’s abandoning the ship here in the United States and is more interested in campaigning than doing his job as president."

Considering the allegations brought against Francesco, it is shocking that Priebus would dare compare the President to him. Republicans seem to have no limits when it comes to verbally insulting President Obama.
