Before You Vote! Things To Remember About Rick Santorum (LIST)

Posted February 28, 2012 by The Decider for Global Grind Staff

It’s a battle of hearts and minds tonight in Michigan, as Republican Presidential hopefuls Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum go head-to-head in key primary states, Michigan and Arizona.

Heading into Tuesday night's Primary, both candidates are nearly even. A poll released just before midnight on Monday, by Public Policy Polling, showed Santorum up 38 percent to Romney's 37 percent.

What’s weird is that Romney is from Michigan and has trouble winning the state. As he famously wrote in an Op-ed piece for the New York Times, and what President Obama continues to remind people, is that Romney said "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt."

Republicans in Arizona will also have their say during the Tuesday night vote. Arizona will award all 29 of its delegates to whoever wins the popular vote, and Romney is expected to win the state.

In Michigan, Romney’s hometown, 28 of 30 delegates will be awarded by congressional district. There are 14 districts and candidates will win two delegates for every congressional district.

In the end, the Republican nominee will need 1,144 delegates to secure the nomination.

Comparing these two men, it’s evident that Santorum goes with his heart, while Romney goes with his head.

Santorum continues to keep talking about the things that matter to him and forgets he should talk about things that matter to America.

Romney, however, continues to push his message of the economy, while staying away from social issues that the conservative base clings to and Santorum thrives on.

No doubt Santorum has tapped into the conservative Republicans in a way that Romney has not.

So why has Santorum tapped into the conservative base so well? It’s what he says and does; his agenda when it comes to social issues are so far right he’s back where he started.

But there are some important things to remember about Rick Santorum and the voters in Arizona and Michigan should know them before they cast their votes tonight.
