Avril Lavigne shocked the world when she announced her engagement to Nickelback front man Chad Kroeger on her ex-boyfriend Brody Jenner's birthday yesterday.

Well, as it always goes, first comes the news of the engagement and then comes pictures of the RIDICULOSLY large ring. It is 14 karats large to be exact. 

The 37-year-old Chad fell for Avril when they were working on music together, and the rest is history. 

People Magazine reports that although Avril is wearing a rock, the Canadian couple isn't planning to get hitched soon.

The pair spoke of their love for one another in an interview with Hello! Canada.
