From Kansas to the catwalk, one of this season’s boldest trends is reminiscent of the blockbuster classic, The Wizard Of Oz.
Coveted brands such as Miu Miu, Christian Louboutin, and Jeffrey Campbell have reinvented Dorothy’s ruby slippers by designing a variation of the shoe that makes a daring statement. Hollywood has embraced the trend as well, with celebs like Beyonce, Diane Kruger and Camilla Belle strutting through New York and Los Angeles in their glitter heels.
Beyonce rocked the trend at the NBA all-star game in L.A., with a pair of sky high, iridescent, Christian Louboutin Daffodil platform pumps. Paired with black jeans and a fluid blouse, Beyonce’s take on the trend is easy and understated, but packs a punch.
Diane Kruger is hailed around the world as not only a talented model and actress, but also a brilliant fashionista. Never missing a fashion beat, Diane chose Miu Miu’s glitter and suede peep toe ankle boots to complete her outfit for Fox’s All-Star party. Her take on the trend was feminine and coy, by pairing her glitter booties with a fitted black frock and a tailored jacket.
With her sultry Brazilian roots, Camilla Belle always looks ravishing on the red carpet. At a Miu Miu event, Camilla paired the brand’s silver glitter pumps with a sweet and conservative printed silk dress. She topped off the look with a coral clutch and a loose chignon, achieving an impeccably styled ensemble.
These lovely ladies demonstrate that when interpreting trends, the most important aspect to remember is making it your own.
Eclectic and playful shoe designer Jeffrey Campbell has a variety of glitter embellished shoes this season, which offer the trend at accessible prices. I like to pair his Lita platform boots in silver glitter with an over-sized silk shirt-dress that I picked up at OAK in New York City’s Soho neighborhood.
