Trayvon Martin’s murder has inspired a call for a ‘Million Hoodie March’ today in New York City.

The gathering is to protest Trayvon's killing, as participants don the very item Martin had on and put the spotlight on the racially profiled overtones of the 17-year-old's shooting death. However, the call to action also brings to mind how prevalent the hoodie is in hip-hop when it comes to urban style.

The hoodie is such a staple when it comes to street style, both on and off-camera, so does it really pose such a risk that someone else might actually lose their life over what has been perceived to be an intimidating article of clothing?

The rally's call to help discredit the negative image associated with said item is vital.
