David Becks Gets Lifted & Racy American Apparel Ads Get Banned (NSFW PHOTOS)

Posted April 4, 2012 by Sonya Magett for Global Grind Staff

There was good news and bad news in Britain yesterday:

Soccer hottie David Beckham's H&M ad that was considered controversial to a few, literally three people actually, is no longer considered such. The UK's Advertising Standards Authority is lifting the ban on the ad in which he famously poses topless.

The bad news: they officially banned eight of American Apparel's images.

But wait, come to think of it, that actually might be a good thing!

Says the ASA: “We concluded that the gratuitous nudity in the ads…in combination with the sexualized nature of the pose [in two images] meant the ads were exploitative and inappropriately sexualized young women.”

American Apparel shot back with this: the images “were less and certainly no more sexual in nature than a large proportion of images of other companies.”
