Donald Glover juggles many balls at once in his career. Donald is an actor, comedian, writer and rapper. Many of you may have seen him star on NBC’s Community as Troy Barnes. Or maybe some of you have noticed his work as a writer for 30 Rock, also on NBC. But now one of the balls he juggles as a rapper has many people taking notice, as he has just released a mixtape under his moniker, Childish Gambino.
A friend sent me a few links that have been going around the Internet starring Gambino performing live over Drake’s “Over.” At first glance you see the hipster-rapper appeal but one cannot ignore his flow and presence at his first ever concert. Take a look:
Not too bad but you may not be sold yet. Fine. Anyone can rap on a popular beat and create some kind of noise on the Web. Fine. The next video is an acoustic version of one of the songs on his mixtape, Culdesac. In this video you can definitely see the talent as he sings/raps about wanting to spend money on women.

In his mixtape, Gambino gets personal, as if he’s writing in a diary. He shares his problems with life, lifestyle, giving his audience a connection like other successful rappers have done in the past, Drake being the latest to do so. It seems Gambino views this rapping thing as a hobby but hopes to expand his brand. Here are some songs from his mixtape—give it a listen then form an opinion.
