The March temperature has continued to rise to record heights in New York City, causing a disturbing segregation of fashion-offenders.
In one corner we have the fashion enthusiasts that embrace the warm weather with open arms ... and open toe sandals. And in the other corner, we have the non-spring believers who pull on their wool coats and scarves reluctant to embrace the ploy of the bloom season's sunshine.
Somewhere in between these polar opposites of flip-flops and snorkel jackets, there is a microscopic niche that nails the transition of weather fashion.
But don't despair, we have five tips to help you grab SPRinter by its flower-blooming horns and teach it a thing or two about fashion.
Plan for later:
Unlike the warm rays of summer fun, spring can be a little trickier when it comes to day and night, so it is absolutely necessary to plan ahead with your outfit. This may mean packing your to-go tote with one magic versatile item, a pashmina scarf. The large, but thin scarf, can be used to wrap around cold shoulders, to shield a little draft when tied around the neck, or to bonnet the hair in case of spring showers.
Lay(er) It On:
Layers layers layers, they are vital for making a spring outfit functional. Those frayed denim shorts? They can totally work for spring if layered with sheer leggings underneath. The summer frock that you thought was reserved for the depths of summer? Belt it and slide on a chic cardigan and voila, a perfect spring outfit. Lightly layer colors, textures and patterns for a fun, fresh spring look.
Don’t Seasonally Segregate Your Wardobe:
Every fashionista knows the vital rule of never packing away their “seasonal” clothing. Incorporate your fun new spring finds with fall and winter faves for a funky new look. Just as the seasons slowly bend and blend in to one another, our wardrobes should be able to do the same. The flowers don’t bloom overnight, so neither should your wardrobe. Take it slow and find that a happy medium won’t be a daunting feat.
Learn The Power of A Perfect Leather Jacket:
If we could scream this from the 43rd floor of our offices we would. The perfect leather jacket can take an outfit from blah to blahDAMN! Our personal fave is pairing tough leathers with pretty spring floral, putting a spunky twist on the classic spring blooms.
Avoid Extremes…And Being “That” Girl:
We all know who THAT girl is, the one that sports flip flops down the snow paths the day the temperature climbs above 50, or the one that bares her legs in a tight summer dress without a jacket on March 1st. Trust us, you never want to the girl looking overly anxious for summer, nor do you want to be the girl in a down coat when the thermometer creeps above 75.
The takeaway message is this, find a happy medium with our tips above, check the entire day’s weather prior to stepping out, and you will conquer the tricky sprinter weather…GG Style will be out on the streets checking!
